Memory

I see it.
My heart does a flip-flop.
She looks bewildered,
It’s just a photo yaar.
What is so special about it?

I smile, gently urging her
Look closely,
She sees the light in my eyes
But stares blankly at the photo

Ah! Then I get it,
The memory is mine,
Sweet, gentle, exquisite.

Some things are indeed,
Trapped in the eyes
Clinched forever!

Who's speaking to whom?
what's up with this photograph!
Well, I am bewildered! ;)

The poet is speaking to a friend to find the essence of the photograph but the friend obviously misses it! So what the poet eventually concludes is that, this 'mundane' photograph can only matter to her and nobody else, as a memento to her memory.
Well, sorry critic I couldn't get through to you. Will try harder next time:)

nice poem.. as in the case of an "inside joke", it's difficult to get people to connect with special photos of your special memories.. thought conveyed nicely though i think you could've done a little more in the last stanza as that was meant to be the clinching part of the poem..

Hey Janvi...I guess I should first apologise! Being a literary illiterate, I didn't quite understand the poem that you had written and so had not liked it in the first instance! But now, after you have explained the poem, it makes a lot of sense and accprding to me it's the best poem in the lot! Kudos!

@ Siddhesh -Yeah I agree about being able to extend the last paragraph to make it look more well- rounded but I don't know, I'm just a little wary of giving completeness to poems. It makes the task of the reader too easy! That could be seen as arrogance too:)
Also, another problem I face often is the overuse of words. It makes the poem look heavy, sometimes taking away its simplicity! Future poetry sessions on F,R&W could help me to resolve these issues.Merci b'coup
