As I stood on the podium,
A wave of loneliness took over,
I looked downwards,
I saw only cheer!
Their glee fails to touch me!
Why don’t they judge me?
Will they tear me apart now?
I feel bare and naked,
There is no comfort, no respite
Do I feel caged?
But isn’t this liberation?
A smile escapes my lips.
These shackles spell doom,
Always.

i liked it!it can have many interpretations like the poems written by great poets.....you feel the poet is saying this and also that.every person makes his own subjective interpretation!and i think its amazing when a poem can do that!good job!
i would be glad if you told me what you had in mind to convey when you wrote this because i seem to get multiple meanings out of this.
Wow! Janvi.....ur poem is just amazing!!!!!.Expressed very well .With every issue u just seem to be growing.the lines "Illuminated and spotlighted,
I feel bare and naked,
There is no comfort, no respite
Do I feel caged?
But isn’t this liberation?" just steals the show.
There's a new proverb in English.
"The autograph books start with the the writers of The FRW Mag."
First Siddhesh Inamdar and now you! This one was so much like you. I could have guessed that you have written it, before reading your name.
Thanks to all! To answer Pallavi first, I had infact titled the poem 'stage' earlier but then changed it to 'curtain raiser'. U can make connections with the title better now I guess and understand the poem in its entirety. And yet, do trust your own interpretation.Do share it with me:)
As for the others, thanks for your encouragement.Hope to get better with every issue.
i did take the same meaning.....
'stage' in the real sense and an actor speaking these words.
also, 'stage' in a more profound sense.............
"we are all actors and the world is our stage, the people our audience!!"
the actor in each of us may feel and think what this poem says!!
there is lots to explain and say about what i thought when i read the poem, but the above line would suffice for now.
Nice poem Janvi...I wish i could write like you!
