The Painting

The oasis in the heart of this desert
Has molten glass
That once was pieces
That once made a frame
That once shattered
And fell inwards upon the painting
Of I
Sitting with friends
Several silences apart
Dreaming private dreams
Of future smiles
Never aware of cracked ground and sand

Now
Ends another cycle of four summers
That shattered the glass
And melted the pieces
Into an oasis
I alone drink and cry
Yet unable to tell
Unconquered fears
From echoes of alas
And tears shed over years

There's a strong competition amongst poems this time; but if someone has to win...It's gonna be you.

This one totally mesmerized me with it's convoluted ideas. Simplicity is not always required.

Brilliant in the usage of words; they rhyme well too.
Simply superb! One of your very best to me.

What a poem! I'm just incredibly fascinated.. To begin with, I found the very idea of a painting as an encapsulation of time and memory, a beautiful idea. There is so much packed in the few lines that, it never ceases to amaze. The metaphors about oasis and shattered glass are timeless. Way to go!

brilliant poem! the whole idea of the oasis of molten glass.. what an excellent thought! the body of the poem; simple and so beautifully all-conveying.. it is able to immerse a reader into imagination so naturally. absolutely everythn abt it, Sid.. splendid! now this is what i mean when i say "ur standard"! kudos!

Dude, seriously!
This was a cracker of a poem.
I, actually, visited the site just to read it again; it's simply awesome!
What a brilliant way to express yourself! 'four summers', 'several silences apart' and the entire last stanza point only toward one thing...'Class'!
